Wood
In the
first five years we were successful in obtaining grants from such people as the
Forestry Commission, Peoples Places (two awards), the Revelstoke
Community Trust, the Community Woodland Network, South Hams District Council,
Taylors of Harrogate, and we are very grateful to all of them as well as the
original donors, who bought the Wood, and the Friends of Brookings Down Wood,
who have taken an interest in the Wood
To
improve and maintain the Wood, we need the continuing support of the local
community, and a small financial reserve.
Some people we could do with more help us with working parties; many
make a financial contribution and have become a Friend of Brookings Down Wood.
This combination local support shown by work and
money has strengthened our applications for grants. Although we do not need to apply for many
large grants in the next few years, we still need money for instance, for third
party insurance, to buy gloves, loppers and bow saws for the volunteers in our
working parties, and service our strimmer. And we still need some professionals for
some jobs such as felling dangerous trees.
Please support us by becoming a Friend of Brookings
Down Wood - subscribing £2.50 per year for 4 years;
to save time and trouble we propose to collect a single sum of £10.
