Newton & Noss Village Hall
The Hall is an attractive building dating from 1863. It has been a Chapel, a School and in 1960 became the Village Hall. It is situated at the end of Noss Creek in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. There are two areas for car parking close by .This lovely building has recently undergone considerable refurbishment using funds raised from the National Lottery, Community Council of Devon and many benefactors within the two villages. The hall is a fantastic venue for wedding receptions, parties, exhibitions, conferences and public performances.
Main Hall
This is a beautifully proportioned room with two large windows and two entrances. It has an attractive maple floor 9 x 9.5 metres; this hall can look stunning when decorated for weddings and special occasions. At the back of the hall is a viewing gallery that can accommodate 12 people and at the front is a stage 5 x 5 metres. The hall is licensed for public performances and can accommodate a maximum of 140 people standing and 120 seated. For seated meals 80 to 100 would be realistic.
The stage is suitable for theatrical productions and has access to changing room space and toilets. A system is available which can offer music and support a radio microphone. The hall has some theatrical lighting and the infrastructure is in place to accommodate a more advanced rig; qualified users can access a 3 phase mains system.
The kitchen has been refurbished and contains a fridge, microwave and catering quality cooker, dishwasher and warming cupboard. The work surfaces are stainless steel and include a large double sink. There is a basic range of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment provided.
Revelstoke Room
This is behind the main hall and is used on week days (during term time) by the St Francis Pre-School Playgroup. It is a well equipped ‘L’ shaped room 55sq metres, with a kitchen area and two toilets. From this room there is access to an inner courtyard and a separate playground. This room could be available at certain times of the year. Please make enquiries with the booking secretary.
